At 4,145 feet Black Mountain is the highest point in Kentucky. As you cross over the mountain into Wise County Virginia a sign states that you are at the highest point in Kentucky. The sign is misleading. You must take a right just before you go into Virginia and take a road up to an F.A.A. tower to reach the highest point.
