A Creek Runs through it

Pine Mountain became Kentucky’s first state park in 1924. On Saturday July 2, 2011, I made a side trip to Pine Mountain’s Chained Rock. In 1933 it seems the town folks of Pineville worried that a large boulder atop Pine Mountain would fall down the mountain and crush everything in its path. In an attempt to control nature they built a massive chain with 7 pound links to secure said boulder to another boulder. I know it seems humorous to us today but you have to appreciate the effort put into this. All of that aside it is a very nice hike out to chained rock. For the most part it is all downhill to the rock and unfortunately all uphill back to your car.
